How is the total bead count calculated?
The generator walks the grid, counts every cell that landed on each letter, and prints the totals in the legend. That count is exactly how many beads of that color you need to fill the piece. Add a small buffer of a few extra beads per color to cover the occasional bead that pops off the pegboard mid-project.
What if the initial motif doesn't look like my letter?
The initial renders from a 5x7 pixel font that supports A-Z and 0-9. Non-letter characters get stripped and the input falls back to A. Very narrow letters like I look thinner than wide ones like M, which is normal for a fixed-width pixel font. If a letter looks too small at 8x8, generate at 16x16 or 24x24 for a bolder rendering.
