Wine Varietal Name Generator
This generator maintains four style-specific data objects, each with an 8-word adjective list and an 8-word wine-term list. Selecting Red loads words like Crimson, Velvet, Garnet alongside Ridge, Reserve, Noir, and Cabernet; White swaps in Golden, Morning, Citrine with Bloom, Blanc, and Riesling; Rosé uses Blush, Coral, Provence with Rosé, Petal, and Cuvée; Sparkling draws from Celeste, Aurora, Crystal with Brut, Crémant, and Blanc de Blancs. On each iteration the function picks one word at random from each list for the selected style and joins them. A Set prevents duplicates, and the loop retries up to 400 times to fill the requested count. Small-vineyard owners use it to explore label copy before briefing a designer. Home vintners naming a garage batch, caterers building a house-wine identity, and wine-subscription brands looking for a sub-label name are also common users. The style selector is the key differentiator: a Sparkling name built around Brut and Crémant reads differently from a Red built around Noir and Reserve, and the generator respects that tonal gap without requiring any knowledge of winemaking vocabulary. Results are intended as label skeletons. A generated name like Garnet Cuvée becomes a full label identity once the winemaker adds the grape variety, appellation, and vintage year. Use the generator to find the right emotional register, then layer your own terroir details on top.

FAQ
How does choosing a style change the output?
Each style has its own separate 8-word adjective and 8-word noun pool. Red draws on words like Crimson, Garnet, and Midnight paired with Ridge, Noir, and Reserve. Sparkling uses Aurora, Crystal, and Celeste with Brut, Crémant, and Cuvée. Switching styles completely replaces both pools, so the tonal register changes rather than just shuffling the same words.
Can I generate names for a blended or orange wine?
The generator supports Red, White, Rosé, and Sparkling. There is no dedicated pool for orange, pét-nat, or natural wines. You could use White or Sparkling as the closest stylistic proxy and then modify any result you like with your own descriptor.
Do results include real grape variety names?
A few pool words are grape-adjacent — Cabernet appears in the Red pool and Riesling in the White pool — so some results will resemble varietal names. Most outputs, however, are mood-based estate-style names like Velvet Reserve or Morning Hill rather than strict varietal designations.
Is a generated name safe to put on a commercial wine label?
The generator produces name ideas, not cleared commercial identities. Before printing labels or filing a wine label application with a regulatory body (such as the TTB in the US or AWBC in Australia), run a trademark search, check for prior wine label registrations, and consult your regional labelling authority. Estate and château names are protected in many jurisdictions.
How many unique names can the generator produce per style?
Each style has 8 adjectives and 8 nouns, giving 64 possible combinations. The maximum count is 30, well within that ceiling for a single run. If you request a batch close to 30, the Set will prevent duplicates, but the retry loop may need more iterations as the remaining unused combinations shrink.
