Advent Calendar Activity Generator
Generates a day-by-day list of activities for an activity advent calendar, for kids, couples, families, or friends, with a free-only option
About this generator
This tool generates a list of activities for an activity advent calendar, one for each day, numbered Day 1, Day 2, and so on. Choose who the calendar is for and how many days you need (up to 25), and you get a shuffled plan with no activity repeated. There are 93 activities in total, and the audience setting changes the list: Family draws from 53, Kids from 56, Couples from 40, and Adults & Friends from 46. With Any cost, each day is marked Free or Small cost. Switch to Free only and anything that needs buying is removed, which still leaves at least 28 free activities for every audience, enough for a full calendar. Activities are winter and holiday themed but not religious, so they suit any household.
How to use
- Choose who the calendar is for: Family, Kids, Couples, or Adults & Friends.
- Leave Cost on Any cost, or pick Free only to skip anything you would need to buy.
- Set the number of days, usually 24 or 25, and click Generate.
- Move busy-day activities around so bigger ones land on weekends.
- Copy the list and write each day's activity on a slip for your calendar.
Use Cases
- •Filling the pockets or envelopes of a reusable advent calendar with one activity a day
- •Planning a free December for kids when the budget is already spoken for
- •Making a couples advent calendar of small dates at home
- •Writing activity slips for a classroom or after-school countdown
- •Planning a December of get-togethers with a group of friends
Tips
- →Write the activities on slips before December starts. It is much harder to keep up day by day.
- →Put the bigger outings on weekends and the five-minute activities on school or work nights.
- →Keep one or two spare slips with easy indoor activities in case of bad weather or a sick day.
- →For a mixed household, generate one Kids list and one Couples list and alternate days.
- →If an activity does not suit you, generate again and swap it out. Every batch is shuffled.
FAQ
what is an activity advent calendar
It is an advent calendar where each day reveals something to do instead of a chocolate or a small gift. Families usually write each activity on a slip of paper and tuck it into an envelope, pocket, or box numbered for each day from December 1 to Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
can I make the whole calendar free
Yes. Set Cost to Free only and the generator leaves out anything that needs buying, such as ice skating, a holiday market, or baking supplies. Every audience still has at least 28 free activities, so you can fill all 24 or 25 days. A few free activities use things most homes already have, like paper, flour, or a board game.
should I make 24 or 25 days
Most advent calendars have 24 days, from December 1 to December 24. Some include Christmas Day as a 25th. Set the number of days to match your calendar, or to fewer if you are starting late or only want weekends.
how do I fit activities around busy days
Generate the list, then move the bigger activities (ice skating, volunteering, hosting) onto weekends and put the quick ones, like a dance party or breakfast for dinner, on school or work nights. The day numbers are just a starting order, so rearrange freely before you fill the calendar.
