About this generator

This tool generates Christmas trivia questions with the answer on the same line, ready to read out at a party, a classroom quiz, or the dinner table. Choose a topic and a difficulty, set how many questions you want (1 to 20), and you get a shuffled list with no repeats in the batch. There are 70 questions across five topics: Traditions & History, Around the World, Food & Drink, Music & Stories, and Other Winter Holidays (Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the solstice, and New Year customs). 20 are Easy, 26 Medium, and 24 Hard. When the topic or difficulty is set to Any, each question is labelled so you know where it came from. Every answer is a well-documented fact; questions where sources disagree were left out.

How to use

  1. Choose a topic, or leave it on Any to mix all five.
  2. Pick a difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, or Any.
  3. Set how many questions you want, from 1 to 20, and click Generate.
  4. Read the questions aloud and keep the answers to yourself, or copy the list to print quiz cards.

Use Cases

  • •Running a Christmas quiz round at an office party or family gathering
  • •A holiday warm-up or end-of-term activity in a classroom
  • •Writing quiz cards for homemade crackers or a stocking-stuffer game
  • •Adding a themed round to a December pub quiz or trivia night
  • •Learning how Christmas and other winter holidays are celebrated around the world

Tips

  • →Read each question twice; people mishear names like Sinterklaas or Glühwein the first time.
  • →For mixed-age teams, use Easy for the kids' turn and Hard when the adults answer.
  • →Run one round per topic so teams with different strengths each get a moment to shine.
  • →If you print the list, fold the paper or cut off the answers before handing it out.
  • →Give half a point for close answers, such as "the Netherlands" for a question about Dutch traditions, to keep things friendly.

FAQ

what are some easy christmas trivia questions

Set the difficulty to Easy for 20 questions most kids and adults can answer, such as how many reindeer pull the sleigh in "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (eight) or what Father Christmas is called in France (Père Noël). Easy questions work well for children of about 7 and up and for mixed-age teams.

are the answers accurate

Each answer was checked against well-documented sources, and questions with disputed answers were dropped. That is why you will not find popular but shaky "facts" here, such as who really wrote "A Visit from St. Nicholas" or which holiday "Jingle Bells" was first written for, since historians disagree on both.

does this include holidays other than christmas

Yes. The Other Winter Holidays topic covers Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the winter solstice, Saturnalia, Hogmanay, Yalda Night, the Dongzhi Festival, and Japanese New Year's Eve. Choose that topic for a round that works for a group that does not all celebrate Christmas.

how do I run a christmas trivia quiz

Split guests into teams of three to five, generate 10 questions per round, and read each question twice. Teams write their answers on paper, then swap sheets to mark them while you read the answers. Two or three rounds with different topics take about 30 to 45 minutes.
